HCBS Medicaid Waiver Assistance

The Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver program was established in 1981 to allow Medicaid-funded services for people with intellectual disabilities and related disabilities to be provided outside of institutional facilities. Family-Funded Care

The Family Caregiver Support Program, through the South Carolina Department on Aging, helps provide some financial relief to caregivers. This program encompasses several categories of client, including those with physical limitations, Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, and intellectual disabilities. Long-Term Care Insurance

Long-term care insurance is offered by many insurance agencies, as well as some veterans’ organizations. It can help cover the costs of extended in-home care. While long-term care insurance may not be right for all clients, it can help alleviate financial burdens for some families and allow them to focus more on the time spent with a loved one. Alzheimer’s & Dementia Vouchers

In South Carolina, short-term respite for full-time Alzheimer’s or dementia caregivers is available through the Alzheimer’s Caregiver Respite Program. Vouchers are available to all informal dementia caregivers and is administered through the Appalachia Area Agency on Aging. Private Pay

We also offer private pay. Private pay home care is when you use savings or even a range of other assets to pay for home care. This is the most common payment option for nonmedical home care, but can vary based on a client’s background, needs, term of assistance, and personal situation.
